Tic Tac Toe Online With Friends

By Duetly Editorial · Published 2026-08-30 · Updated 2026-08-30

The whole product is built around one job: you should be able to play Tic Tac Toe online with a friend in a couple of taps. No email. No app store. No 'waiting for matchmaking' unless you asked for it.

The path

  1. Open the online page and tap Create Game.
  2. Copy the invite link or the six-character room code.
  3. Send it in any chat you already use.
  4. When the second person opens the link, the board unlocks.
  5. Take turns in real time. Rematch stays in the same room.
Passing a phone so a friend can open the private game link
The invite is the link. They open it in the browser — no app.

What the other person sees

They do not need an account. They get the same board you do, with their mark (O if they joined). Illegal clicks do nothing useful — the server ignores them. If they disconnect, the room waits a short time for a reconnect instead of instantly destroying the game.

Private on purpose

Room pages are marked noindex. Codes are random, not 000001, 000002. Still: a link is a key. Send it to the person you meant. Rooms expire after inactivity so abandoned codes do not live forever.

If you do not have a friend handy

Use Find Random Opponent for an anonymous pairing, or play vs computer until someone is free. Random matchmaking never asks for a name.
