Rock Paper Scissors Psychology

RPS psychology is a pile of tendencies, not laws. Use them as bets, then drop them when the person in front of you does not match the average.

After a loss

A common move is to throw whatever just beat you — a 'next in the cycle' shift. If they lost with rock to paper, they may try paper. If you expect that, you throw scissors. If they also read psychology articles, they may expect you to expect that.

After a win

Winners repeat more than they should. Repeating feels like 'staying with what works.' It also becomes a target.

The social layer

People throw rock when they want to look decisive. They throw scissors when they want to look sly. Paper is the unloved middle. That folk reading is why paper-openers exist. None of it matters against the computer, which has no self-image.

The useful takeaway: watch one real opponent for two rounds instead of memorizing a blog. Then play Rock Paper Scissors with that friend while the observation is fresh.
